7 Days Kidepo Safari

Day 1: Arrival.

On arrival at the airport, you will be received by the company representative and transferred to your hotel room in Entebbe or Kampala. And as early as possible hit the road towards Eastern Uganda to Mt Elgon National Park. On our way we may have a short stopover at the source of the Nile, have breakfast then continue to Sipi falls. Dinner and overnight at Sipi river lodge or Noah’s Ark Sipi Lodge.

Day 2: Short tour of Sipi falls and Mt Elgon.

After early breakfast with a local tour guide you will visit the beautiful Sipi Falls, on a plateau 1800m above sea level. The Sipi River flows over the foothills of Mount Elgon, forming a spectacular series of waterfalls (some nearly 100m high), surrounded by village walking trails and lush green coffee-producing hills of Elgon Mountains. You will stay in a wonderful lodge Sipi River lodge or Noah’s Ark if on budget. Through your lodge windows you will enjoy the beautiful views of one of the waterfalls.

Day 3: Exit Sipi Falls to Kidepo National Park.

After an early morning breakfast we will leave the mountain through the plains of Kapchorwa towards karamojo in the semi-arid climate going with us up to Kidepo valley National Park arriving in the afternoon with an optional visit to the Karamojong communities. Spend the rest of the evening exploring the beauty of Kidepo Valley National Park concluding with an exciting walking safari with an armed game ranger. Therefore, if you can plan your safari to arrive in Kotido on a Tuesday then you’ll have the chance to experience an authentic Karamojong cattle market on Wednesday afternoon as we exit the park. It’s a marketplace full of energy where some herders walk for 5 hours to be able to buy or sell their goats, cows, milk or animal blood. It’s a colorful and stunning sight and one of the few remaining authentic experiences.

Day 4: Kidepo Valley National Park.

Early in the morning go on a game drive through Kidepo valley National Park. Want a Uganda birding tour and see birds of prey? The Kidepo game drive will take you through it all seeing more than 50 species. From the very common yellow-billed kite, the pygmy falcon, fox kestrel and tawny eagle to the rare Verreaux’s eagle and the very rare Taita falcon. On mammals, large herds of African buffalo and bush elephant, Zebras and Giraffes can be seen easily in Park. With a little luck you will see lions and maybe cheetah. During the game drive safari tours to the hot springs of Kanangorok, ostriches can be observed in the northern part of the park in the Sudanese border and thereafter have a bush lunch overlooking this Uganda Safari park.

Day 5: Kidepo National Park-Murchison Falls National Park.

Around 7:00am after breakfast we exit Kidepo National Park through the northern Uganda corridors for the most beautifully protected area in Uganda the Murchison Falls National Park. , entering the park with an evening game drive through the northern gate towards Paraa with warm welcome of several wild animals.

Day: 6 Game drive and boat cruise at Murchison National park.

Early morning breakfast and enjoy a sunrise game safari in the vast open Savannah grasslands of the Park. Look out for giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, Jackson’s hartebeests, warthogs among others. In the afternoon, proceed for a boat trip on the placid Victoria Nile, upstream, to the base of the falls. En route you will see hippos, crocodiles, water buck and a wide variety of birds like the unusual shoebill stork. The boat stops just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. Take pictures of the photogenic and majestic Murchison Falls. Disembark from the boat and take a hike to the Top of the falls where you can see the Nile’s beauty perfected!! Marvel at the Nile, compressing from 50 meters to squeeze through a 6-metre canyon dropping 40 meters with a thunderous roar.  Cruise back to our accommodation for a rest.

Day: 7 Murchison Falls National Parks- Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary.

Exit the park in the morning after breakfast and on our way to the exit, we will visit have a stopover to visit the critically endangered white rhinos in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and continue for a drop off to Kampala or Entebbe arriving in the  late evening.
